01
Customer Needs
We assess the needs of our industry and review sales of our existing range. We stay in constant contact with customers to understand their current requirements, and tailor solutions accordingly. This research surfaces opportunities and priorities for the R&D program.
02
Objectives
We set clear objectives. Developing a new product that opens a growing market, or one that better serves an existing customer, often beats updating products in static segments. The objective is always to improve the range and set sharp performance targets for new versions.
03
Process
Once objectives are set, a formal project management cadence kicks in - key reviews, launch dates, milestone gates. The R&D phase ends when the product is ready for production; the program continues into manufacturing, distribution, and marketing. Throughout, we evaluate proposals, test concepts, build the business case, monitor cost, and review progress.
